General Counsel Responsibilities:
Advise senior management and the board on various legal matters regarding new and existing laws.
Manage and develop strategy on all legal matters related to litigation, corporate governance, commercial, compliance, intellectual property, personnel policy, regulatory, shareholder, employment, and licensing matters
Manage outside counsel
Create and review agreements with employees, vendors, and customers
Draft and negotiate contracts such as leases, employment agreements, or loan modification documents
Complete and file legally required forms
Create legal entities
Manage real estate transactions
Manage claims and renewal of property casualty insurance
Develop tax strategy
General Counsel Requirements:
Juris Doctor degree from accredited, top-tier law school
Experience with corporate governance, real estate transactions, litigation, and intellectual property
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of statutes, rules, and regulations pertaining to businesses
