Under the direction of Auditor Keith Faber, the Auditor of State's office is responsible for auditing and providing financial services to all public offices in Ohio. This encompasses more than 5,800 entities including cities, counties, villages, townships, schools, state universities and public libraries. The office also provides financial services to local governments, investigates and prevents fraud in public agencies and promotes transparency in government.
As Ohio's chief compliance officer, the Auditor of State makes Ohio government more efficient, effective and transparent by placing checks and balances on state and local governments for taxpayers. There are eight area offices in seven regions across the state to better serve the needs of Ohioans. Regional offices are headquartered in Dayton, Cambridge, Canton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo, and Youngstown.
